In fact, we throw away 7.3 million tonnes of food, every year. And one quarter of the world’s fresh water goes to producing the food that we throw away. It’s crazy.

Innovative businesswoman, Katy Barfield has singlehandedly hunted out major food producers, to access surplus product and create an online platform for purchasers to access commercial quantities of surplus food at a significant discount.

With Yume, Katy makes product available to over 3000 customers, including beer brewers, industrial caterers, airport lounges, cafes and restaurants. She is helping Australian businesses to save money, but more importantly reduce landfill, methane and greenhouse gas production in Australia. Brilliant!
